Empire Waist Swim Dress (2-Piece)

We are a business, afterall, so I feel obligated to show you some of our biggest sellers. Perhap one or more of these sets is just perfect for you or someone you know.

We teach sewing. (Well, mainly.)

We’ve created the patterns that we sell in the sets with simplicity in mind and we teach with step-by-step videos on DVD for each pattern. Each “set” is comprised of a MAC and PC friendly CD with the printable and re-printable pattern and instructions for that specific project, and a DVD so you can SEE how it is done. There are lots of close-ups, so you won’t miss a thing. And, yes…You CAN Sew!

12-Week Curriculum for Beginners

Did you know that the curriculum now has a BOYS supplement?

It’s true! Just ask for it.

When we first began selling our You CAN Sew curriculum at conventions, two of our first sales were to men.  The first was an Army Lieutenant who sewed and repaired parachutes.  He bought the curriculum for his two teenage sons.  The second man was a surgeon.  He also bought the curriculum for his two teenage sons. Both men found the skill set extremely important, and not just for homemaking.  Since we did not have a boy’s supplement at the time (using the learned skills to sew things from patterns that boys would actually use), I asked what they would do with the projects. Both men offered up that they would donate the finished projects to a nearby church or ministry, or gift it to friend or relative.  They said owning the skills was far more important than the projects used in learning the skills.  The finished projects might last a few years, but the skills last a lifetime.  I have been so grateful ever since to both of these men for broadening my perspective.  So, yes…You CAN Sew offers a comprehensive, multi-sensory approach to learning a skill set that will last a lifetime for girls AND boys, young and old!

The swim dress is cute and looks like a good multi-purpose outfit. It also resolves the dilema of “What’s the difference between a bikini and a bra and panties set?”

We just received the You Can Sew curriculum (ordered from Vision Forum) and are quite excited to get started. I’ve tried to find your web site recently but it seems it has expired? Would like to know more about the boys supplement and the other patterns you sell (swim suits, costumes, etc.) Hope you are still in business and all is well with your family!

Hi there! Yes, the website is temporarily down while we convert DNS settings. I apologize for that. I am working to resolve this ASAP.

The “Boy’s Supplement” is the boy’s companion to the You CAN Sew course. Instead of making a kitchen apron & a skirt, etc., they make “boy” stuff such as a nail apron, and simple pants.

All of our patterns are still available for swim dresses, jumpers, everyday dresses, a-line dresses, bloomers, Colonial costumes, and the like. The patterns are multi-sized (as in “all children” or “all adult”) on a printable and re-printable CD. There is also a corresponding video included with each pattern where we sew step-by-step with you.

Thank you for your patience! We’ll be back up and running in no time! Feel free to email me if you have any further questions: jennifer@modestymatters.net

Thank you so much for getting back to me. Glad to hear it is all still available! We will get started on our curriculum and look forward to adding to it for the boys as well! I know we will be ordering a swim dress pattern/instructions before too long also.
